Bhandardara is a holiday resort village on the Western Ghats of India. The village is located in the Ahmednagar district of the state of Maharashtra, about 185 kilometers from Mumbai. Bhandardara is set on a dam and is known for its remote and idyllic location, waterfalls around the area. It is also a favourite with families who want to take a short break from the pressures of urban living.

Bhandardara is also a hot-spot for the religiously inclined who visit the Amruteshwar Temple which is an ancient Shiva Temple. The temple also offers an interesting study of its unique architecture. The largest earthen dam in the country and one of the oldest dams in Asia, Wilson Dam or Bhandardara Dam is at Bhandardara. The height of the dam is nearly 150 m. The overflowing water makes the Umbrella Falls, which is a picturesque sight during the monsoon season. There is also a lake with serene beauty called Arthur Lake.

Bhandardara (1 Night/2 Days)

Day 01: Mumbai to Bhandardara approximately 160 km’s
We will pick you up from your loving home and drive straight away to the paradise town of Bhandaradara. Have breakfast on the way and sit back and enjoy the 3 hour drive going through the beautiful Ghats of Igatpuri. Enjoy the picturesque views of the Western Ghats of India with lush green mountains having clouds kiss its summit. On your way you will also pass Mount Kalsubai, the highest peak in the state of Maharashtra.

Arrive in Bhandardara and check in to your resort. Take an hour rest and step out to explore. First on our list is Arthur Lake, the mesmerizing lake which is bounded by thick canopied forests of the Sahyadri Hills followed by a Boat Ride. Next stop is Wilson Dam. Situated at a height of 150 m above sea level. It’s one of the oldest dams in India. Later in the evening we visit Agasti Rishi Ashram that draws large number of tourist because of mythological epic & peaceful surrounding.

Day 02: Bhandardara to Mumbai
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and spend some leisure time at Arthur Lake. On arrival at Mumbai, we will drop you at your desired location.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Bhandardara Hill Station is from October to February when the weather is conducive to explore the outdoors.
